What is a Theory?
Important points
In an unformally language, theory means ideas or thought. But to scientists, a theory is an explanation of a phenomenon that is testable and falsifiable with many evidences supporting it. A theory is different from a hypothesis and a law, but both hypotheses and theories are parts of the scientific method. In scientific methods, the experiment should be repeatable in order for other scientists be able to verify the results. One thing about theory that upsets both scientists and non-scientists alike is that theories can never be proven and can always be revised.
Reaction (or Conclusion)
I think this article gives a really clear definition to the word "theory," but the words used in this article are a little bit too hard for me to understand. I feel that this article is for an adult, not student like us. But anyway, this article still gives really important facts about the word, “theory.” I agree with the idea that says, "Experiments should be repeatable in order to let other scientists be able to verify the results." I agree because if the experiment can’t be repeated, the theory that might be wrong will make future scientists misunderstand, and I think the word "theory" will be use widely by non-scientists in the future.
